Empowering women across Malawi
Our programme is a core part of our operations and our goal of helping women to fight the effects of HIV/AIDS by tackling poverty, which is a key driver of HIV/AIDS in Malawi and most parts of the world.
Youth programmes were established in 2015 and now there are 30 youth support groups. They are comprised of girls that are infected and those that are not infected by the virus.
MASYAP’s 31 women’s support groups meet regularly and consist of members that are infected, affected and not affected women.
Knowing your HIV Status gives you powerful information to keep yourself healthy. HIV Testing allows people to make informed choices about their future practices and behaviors.
The youth camp held from December 23rd to 26th, 2023 at Mai Halima Girls Secondary School in Mulanje, proved to be a transformative experience for the 195 participants who gathered under the theme of “Self-Awareness.”
A support group is a gathering of people facing common issues to share what’s troubling them. Through the sharing of experiences, they are able to offer support, encouragement and comfort to the other group members and receive the same in return.

MASYAP continues on the journey of empowering women economically in order to reduce poverty at the household level and to help the poor with setting up their own income generating businesses.
On November 11, 2023, a couple’s workshop on HIV/AIDS awareness and counselling was held at Blantyre lodge in Blantyre District. MASYAP invited facilitators from John Hopkins. The workshop was attended by 20 couples and 2 facilitators and a Sheikh. The objective of the workshop was to educate married couples on the modes of transmission and preventive measures of HIV/AIDS.
