Empowering women across Malawi
Our programme is a core part of our operations and our goal of helping women to fight the effects of HIV/AIDS by tackling poverty, which is a key driver of HIV/AIDS in Malawi and most parts of the world.
Youth programmes were established in 2015 and now there are 30 youth support groups. They are comprised of girls that are infected and those that are not infected by the virus.
MASYAP’s 31 women’s support groups meet regularly and consist of members that are infected, affected and not affected women.
The women chair ladies dwelled much on social attitudes towards issues relating to HIV/AIDS. The biggest problem in fighting AIDS is breaking the silence that surrounds the epidemic. Although thousands of people are ill or dying, it is not spoken
MASYAP holds meetings with the support group char ladies twice a year. These meetings are aimed at updating chair ladies on new developments from the office, giving feedback from previous queries and following up on how support groups are progressing.
Women empowerment is one of the objectives of MASYAP. MASYAP aims at alleviating poverty for both women and youths that are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Before members access the loan, they are trained on how to manage their businesses.
MASYAP World Care Foundation recognize that Threads of Care tailoring project is playing a key role in every woman working under this project. The project provides employment to MASYAP women members, promoting that there should be no gender discrimination but

During the routine outreach programmes, MASYAP visited the Makungwa support group in Thyolo District. This is one of the support groups that have talented girls with tailoring skills as shown in the picture below:
There was a friendly netball match between Bangwe Alasala and Bangwe Nvula support groups in Blantyre District. MASYAP focused on a netball match during one of the visits.
Microfinance visits were carried out to see the progress of the businesses and to give them a push where they are failing along the line which was a success. Among them are these women from kameza and Bangwe Mvula support
