Empowering women across Malawi
Our programme is a core part of our operations and our goal of helping women to fight the effects of HIV/AIDS by tackling poverty, which is a key driver of HIV/AIDS in Malawi and most parts of the world.
Youth programmes were established in 2015 and now there are 30 youth support groups. They are comprised of girls that are infected and those that are not infected by the virus.
MASYAP’s 31 women’s support groups meet regularly and consist of members that are infected, affected and not affected women.
The Mai Aisha Sisters and Youth AIDS Programme (MASYAP) extended its commitment to the well-being of women and girls by incorporating HIV Testing Services (HTS) into its support groups.
These groups include widows, divorced individuals, those living with HIV, and the elderly. This content aims to shed light on the multifaceted empowerment approach adopted by MASYAP, incorporating microfinance initiatives and food relief programs to uplift the lives of these women.
The Mai Aisha Sisters and Youth AIDS Programme (MASYAP) implemented a commendable initiative by conducting follow-up visits to youth support groups comprised of individuals both infected and affected by HIV.
MASYAP continues the support group visits which encourages them to build stronger relationships the kind of mutually supportive bonds that last a lifetime creating a very real community where no one is fake and everyone feels safe that they can
Responding to the hunger that has hit, killing most of the people in the country and with the many complaints of hunger that came in from many MASYAP members, on the 13th of December 2023, the Mai Aisha Trust donated 331 bags of maize

The youth camp held from December 23rd to 26th, 2023 at Mai Halima Girls Secondary School in Mulanje, proved to be a transformative experience for the 195 participants who gathered under the theme of “Self-Awareness.”
A support group is a gathering of people facing common issues to share what’s troubling them. Through the sharing of experiences, they are able to offer support, encouragement and comfort to the other group members and receive the same in return.
