Empowering women across Malawi
Our programme is a core part of our operations and our goal of helping women to fight the effects of HIV/AIDS by tackling poverty, which is a key driver of HIV/AIDS in Malawi and most parts of the world.
Youth programmes were established in 2015 and now there are 30 youth support groups. They are comprised of girls that are infected and those that are not infected by the virus.
MASYAP’s 31 women’s support groups meet regularly and consist of members that are infected, affected and not affected women.
We conducted outreach sessions with nine support groups, aligning our discussions with the ‘World AIDS Day Commemoration’ theme.
As part of our ongoing microfinance program, we conducted follow-up visits to support group members running small businesses.
Mai Aisha Trust is currently seeking passionate and experienced professionals for the position of HTS Provider through Mai Aisha Sisters & Youth AIDS Programme (MASYAP).
As part of this outreach initiative, MASYAP also held a couple’s workshop to address the critical issue of intimate-based violence (IBV).
At MASYAP, our mission to empower and support vulnerable communities remains unwavering. In a recent outreach initiative, we visited 12 support groups across Thyolo, and Blantyre districts to connect with members, monitor their progress, and provide essential guidance.
In addition to Murabaha, MASYAP is actively supporting support group members through the Qarde Hassana Program.
In October 2024, Mai Aisha Sisters and Youth AIDS Programme (MASYAP) extended its outreach efforts by visiting 12 support groups across Zomba, Thyolo, and Blantyre districts.
In partnership with the Muslim World League, MASYAP provided essential food support to 200 households facing severe food shortages due to the ongoing hunger crisis in Malawi.
MASYAP remains committed to supporting its microfinance beneficiaries by visiting their places of business to assess their environments and offer guidance.
On September 9th, 2024, MASYAP received a generous donation from the Muslim World League. Puzzle-solving games were distributed to 11 children from MASYAP’s support groups.
