In a significant milestone, MASYAP hosted a Youth Camp for young girls during December. Initially planned for 100 participants, the camp welcomed 150 enthusiastic attendees, exceeding expectations.  Recognizing the heightened risks associated with the festive season, such as exposure to immoral behaviors due to increased social activities and peer pressure, the camp provided a safe, structured environment for learning, bonding, and personal growth.

Highlights and Activities

Interactive HIV Prevention Education:

Facilitators conducted engaging sessions to reinforce knowledge about HIV and sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention. Topics included methods of prevention, modes of transmission, and the importance of regular testing.

Life Skills Development Workshops:

The girls participated in activities designed to enhance decision-making, effective communication, and leadership skills. These workshops aimed to build their confidence and independence.

Career Inspiration Sessions:

We invited facilitators from diverse professional sectors to share insights and motivate the girls. This broadened their horizons and encouraged them to aspire toward various career paths.

Promoting Positive Behaviors:

Sessions focused on fostering self-discipline, respect for self and others, and the importance of making positive choices.

Community Building Activities:

Collaborative exercises and team-building activities strengthened the participants’ support networks and cultivated a sense of community.

The camp was a safe, structured environment for learning, focusing on reducing vulnerability to harmful behaviors and fostering personal growth.
