20 young women receive MK40,000 business loans

After business training with Opportunity Malawi, 20 girls received loans of MK40,000 each for the April–July 2022 cycle.

The first microfinance training of 2022 took place in February. The training gave the young women business management skills. Mrs Comely Chinseu, a consultant from Opportunity Malawi Limited, showed the girls how to start a business and assess their market first, and focused on managing debt and savings.

How the cycle works

The new cycle runs from April to July 2022, and loans are repaid in four monthly instalments. Both women and young members get a one-month grace period to run their businesses before repayments start, so this group has all of March before their first repayment in April.

The girls are happy to be able to run small businesses and earn a steady income.
