MASYAP is made up of a network of women and youth support groups in the southern region of Malawi and has over 2,000 members. There are currently 31 women’s groups and 30 youth groups and they meet on a weekly basis and these support groups and the main medium through which MASYAP works. Our microfinance scheme, which is solely aimed at improving their lives is based around women and youths involved in the support groups. We also used to run an HIV Testing and Counselling (HTC) in our office and as an outreach programme in more accessible communities. This programme has been inactive for a few years now due to a lack of funding.
MASYAP has a wide range of collaborators including local and national health authorities such as the Blantyre District Health Office (DHO) and the National AIDS Commission (NAC). We also collaborate with Interfaith forums to tackle HIV/AIDS. MASYAP is well networked with a host of HIV/AIDS initiatives and organisations in Malawi.
