As part of this outreach initiative, MASYAP also held a couple’s workshop to address the critical issue of intimate-based violence (IBV). This workshop brought together experts, including researchers from Johns Hopkins and a respected Sheikh, to provide comprehensive insights into the intersection of IBV, HIV/AIDS, and Islamic teachings.

Key topics covered included:

  • Understanding Intimate-Based Violence: Researchers presented an in-depth analysis of IBV, its implications on health, and its correlation with the spread and management of HIV/AIDS.
  • Islamic Perspective: The Sheikh provided guidance on IBV within the context of Islam, emphasizing the principles of compassion, mutual respect, and justice in marital relationships.
  • Practical Solutions: Participants discussed actionable strategies to prevent and address IBV in their communities, focusing on building healthy and supportive relationships.
