MASYAP encourages all of its members and community members at large to get tested for HIV as this service is provided for free in all public health centres across the country. Currently, MASYAP does not conduct this service as it does not have a qualified HTC officer due to lack of funding. The early diagnosis of HIV enabled us to help infected women and children get onto ARVs and is often saving intervention.
The previous MASYAP’s on-site HTC officer was fully approved by the DHO (District Health Officer) and our trained HTC counsellor offered testing twice a week.
MASYAP also conducted HTC testing in support group districts are not within reach of the office as well as in other communities when needed. We provided testing as part of the events such as Limbe Police HIV/AIDS candlelight memorial and World AIDS day.
