On May 25th, 2021, MASYAP resumed providing the HTS after a break of 4 years. MASYAP is working in partnership with Blantyre DHO with an average of 50 women/girls being tested per session. This is so after realizing that Muslim youth and women who have been infected by HIV and AIDS have been socially and economically marginalized due to stigma and discrimination. Therefore, MASYAP developed community interventions in Blantyre, Chiradzulu and Thyolo districts.
This project is expected to:
- Reach out and test for HIV Muslim women and youths who are unable to access and utilize HTS.
- Refer to care (ART treatment) Muslim women and youths who could not have enrolled for treatment due to stigma.
- Complement with the government’s efforts in achieving the UN 95%:95%:95% targets by the year 2030.
- Improve the socio-economic status and well-being of Muslim women and youths on ART through loans and nutritional support among others.
