Members share their stories at the MASYAP general meeting
Members from all 30 support groups came together to share stories, dramas and songs, and women living openly with HIV encouraged others to get tested.
MASYAP held its general meeting, bringing together members from all 30 support groups to share stories, performances and ideas. Local Sheikh Ahmed Chienda gave a motivational speech and the MASYAP Microfinance Officer gave a presentation to the meeting.
Dramas, songs and testimonies
Members performed dramas on topics ranging from HIV discrimination to the care of orphans, as well as songs.
Several women who are openly HIV positive shared their stories. Many had faced discrimination when they first told family and friends about their status, but said they now feel freer and happier. They encouraged other members to get tested and to be open about their status, and many said the support of their group had helped them overcome the challenges of living with HIV.
